World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.
For example an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following the reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced again are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
The use of the Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to improve the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrade the equipment they have, the base item is replaced by the new item. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you do not need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is very important in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade item s allows players to upgrade the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to go to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
